Propane: The Leading Global Alternative

Propane vehicle technology is well established around the world, and has been fueling automobiles since 1913. Propane has one of the highest energy densities of all alternative fuels, so propane vehicles go farther on a tank of fuel. It is also an exceptionally safe fuel: propane tanks are 20 times more puncture-resistant than gasoline tanks, and propane has the lowest flammability range of all alternative fuels.

Over 88% of the propane used in this country is domestically produced. Of this, 70% comes from the processing of natural gas. The U.S., Canada and Mexico have extensive natural gas reserves. More than half, 62%, of the remaining 12% is imported from Canada and Mexico.

A Smart Investment

Propane is one of the least expensive alternatives to gasoline. The ongoing return on investment from propane fleet conversion makes it a smart bottom-line choice.

  • Save on fuel costs vs. gasoline.
  • Reduced maintenance and replacement costs. Propane's 104 octane rating and low carbon and oil contamination characteristics can result in increased engine life.
  • Opportunity for federal fuel credits and rebates.

The Propane Advantage

Propane costs significantly less than gasoline and many converted vehicle fleets have reported cost savings associated and extended intervals between required maintenance.

A higher octane level of propane means lower harmful emissions compared to vehicles fueled by traditional gasoline and diesel. In fact, propane exhaust creates 60%-70% less smog-producing hydrocarbons than gasoline, and cuts emissions of toxins and carcinogens by up to 96%. Propane is a proven way to reduce the carbon footprint of your organization, helping create a safer environment for today and tomorrow as well.
